The English Language Reader edition of A Lion Called Christian has been selected as a set text by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations for the FCE Writing examination in 2013-14. The FCE (First Certificate Exam) is an exam for upper-intermediate students of English and is taken by students all over the world.

The title has also been nominated for an ERF (Extensive Reading Foundation) award in the Upper-Intermediate / Advanced category. This is an annual award for graded readers. Teachers and students will be voting for their preferred title and the results will be announced in July.
