An update from John Rendall and Ace Bourke

An update from John Rendall and Ace BourkeWe have now launched ‘A Lion Called Christian’ and the Young Reader’s version, ‘Christian The Lion’, in Australia. Again, our story has had a positive reception and we enjoyed our appearances on Today Tonight, Mornings with Kerri Anne and Sunrise. We have also done some interesting print and radio interviews including The Conversation Hour with Richard Fidler.

The launch party at Taronga Zoo was generously hosted by Guy Cooper, Director of Taronga, and the Taronga Foundation with Richard Morecroft chairing the Q&A. Amongst the guests on the night were Maggie Tabberer, ‘Bondi Vet’ Dr Chris Brown, Lady Sonia McMahon and Jenny Kee.

A second launch event was hosted by Zabriskie Books of Bondi who were inaugurating their Book Club evenings at Ravesis.

What was particularly special at these events were the number of friends who has met Christian in London; Mandy Wright and Toni Francis who had typed the original manuscript in 1970, Robbie Henderson, Candy Rankin, Di Jagleman and Chris Hazel.

We are both excited that our television special which has been aired in both the US and UK will be screened in Australia on Tuesday 5th May on the Seven Network.

The interest in Christian just astounds us and we are grateful that it gives us the opportunity to talk about the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust which continues George’s work in Tanzania and Kenya as well as the crisis in wildlife conservation in general.
